Reopening Minamiaso Railway

Hello…..I’m back.

It’s me, Min Min again. It’s been such a long time to meet you all as I’ve been busy with a bunch of exams and internships. Well…Well. I’m back with the big news.

Well…Quiz time!

What makes Aso unique?

Bingo!

It is the ancient caldera where the local people reside. But what if I tell you that Aso is a special place where you can traverse a large and ancient caldera by train. This distinctive feature makes Aso apart as an unparalleled anywhere else in the world.

Actually, Minami Aso Railway holded a special place in the hearts of the local people because it served as an essential mode of transportation for daily commuting, school and work. Furthermore, renowned for its breathtaking scenic route, Minamiaso Railway also offered unique sightseeing experiences with its iconic trolley train.

Sadly, due to the big Kumamoto Earthquake in 2016, Minamiaso Railway also suffered from severe damages to the entire railway line and they had to suspend commuting since then. They reopened partially between Takamori and Nakamatsu soon after the earthquake. But for the rest of the line between Tateno and Nakamatsu, it took seven years to restore due to the big damage of the bridge on the way.

Finally, the long-awaited Minamiaso railway is back. Actually, the reopening day was on 15th july and luckily I was there. There were a lot of media and the local people who were waiting to wave at the train and feel the golden era again. Of course, reopening of Minami Aso Railway means a lot not only to local people but the local tourist industry, serving as a great force for economic growth and development.

So, what are you waiting for? Come  to Aso and revel in the unrivaled train journey of breathtaking scenery throughout the caldera. We are looking forward to seeing you in Aso.

Have a nice day…!
