It is still cold at night here, but I feel spring is just around the corner.
I believe that everybody likes Sakura, the cherry blossoms.
The first photo is Somei Yoshino, the most famous Sakura species, but I would like to introduce the other Sakura which is already blooming in Aso area.
This is Kawazu Sakura which bloom almost one month earlier than Somei Yoshino. The vivid pink color of flower is quite characteristic.
A open- air music theater, ASPECTA in Minami Aso Village has as many as 6700 trees of Kawazu Sakura mainly and some of them started blooming now. The theater is made on the hill of Southern outer-rim of Aso caldera, then the Sakura trees planted at the bottom of the hill bloom first and the trees at the higher elevation bloom later, probably around early March, so that we can enjoy them for a long time.
The combination of pink blossoms and Mount Aso is awesome!
It is a shame it is not easy to get there by public transportations.
If you are coming to Aso by car or taxi in this season, you should put this place in your list definitely!
Sun is getting warmer, but the wind is still cold in Aso, please remember to dress warm when you come to Aso!
