It is the best season to see flowers in Aso right now. Lately I introduced you to the Chojugaoka flower park and today I will bring you to Sensuikyo, a place that recently reopened after being hit by the Kumamoto earthquake in 2016.
Once again, it is unfortunate but there is no way to reach Sensuikyou by public transportation. You can go there by bicycle but you will have to climb quite a bit so the best way to go is by car to the parking there.
It was my first time to go to Sensuikyo. The place was closed for a long time after the earthquake and I never had the occasion to go there before. I can say that this is definitely a great place to go especially when the azaleas are in full bloom. As you can see on the pictures it looks really great.
But it is also worth to go there all year long in my opinion. The view on the inside of the caldera is beautiful as well as the view on the mountains on the back. It was a really clear day when I went there two days ago and it was even possible to see the Kuju mountains on the back.
I also really enjoyed when you arrived at the top of one of the viewpoints and can enjoy the scenery with buddhist statues all around. It gives the place a more mystical atmosphere and it also allows you to take great pictures!
