A Fun Anime Stop in Aso: Kumamon Shin-chan at ASO MILK FACTORY

Now loved not only in Japan but also by fans around the world, Crayon Shin-chan has become one of Japan’s most recognizable anime characters.

Last year, we introduced the adorable “Kumamon Shin-chan” statue, which welcomed countless visitors for about a year at the Aso Volcano Museum next to the famous Kusasenri grasslands.

Interestingly, Shin-chan’s mother, Misae, is originally from Aso in Kumamoto Prefecture, and Shin-chan himself often visits Aso and Kumamoto in the series to see his grandparents. That connection makes the character especially beloved here in Aso.

The statue quickly became a popular photo spot, with many visitors stopping to take memorable pictures together with Shin-chan.

But actually… Kumamon Shin-chan moved to a new home this April!

You can now meet him at ASO MILK FACTORY, a popular stop located along the route from Michi no Eki Aso toward Daikanbo.

ASO MILK FACTORY is known for sweets and ice cream made with their own fresh “ASO MILK.” There is also a restaurant serving dishes generously made with house-made cheese, making it a favorite stop for travelers exploring the Aso area from Michi no Eki Aso.

Right now is also the season for spring roses, and the Rose Festival is currently being held there as well.

At the moment, the roses inside the rose dome are in full bloom, while the outdoor garden roses are just beginning to reach their best season. The Rose Festival continues through the end of June.

As the weather gets warmer, delicious ice cream becomes even more tempting, doesn’t it?

If you are visiting Daikanbo or heading toward Kurokawa Onsen from Michi no Eki Aso, be sure to stop by ASO MILK FACTORY. Enjoy fresh ASO MILK products and tasty local treats while meeting the charming Kumamon Shin-chan too.

We look forward to welcoming you to Aso during this beautiful early summer season.
