Three Great Reasons to Visit Aso This Autumn!

Since the volcanic alert level was raised to Level 3 on August 14, it has now been lowered to Level 2 for the first time in about half a month yesterday.

With the alert level now at Level 2, we would like to introduce the following three trekking routes. For example, on the Nakadake Crater and Mt. Takadake Route, trekking is possible on areas outside the designated Red Zone.

After a scorching summer, Aso is finally getting ready to welcome the beautiful autumn travel season—and we have three great reasons why this might be the perfect time to visit!

First, the volcanic alert level at Mount Aso has been lowered from Level 3 to Level 2, after being raised on August 14. This means that some trekking routes are now a little more accessible than they were under Level 3. For example, on the Nakadake Crater & Mt. Takadake Route, trekking is possible in areas outside the designated Red Zone.

Second, autumn is one of the best seasons to explore Aso. The intense summer heat begins to ease, the landscape takes on beautiful seasonal colors, and the crisp mountain air makes trekking even more enjoyable. It’s a wonderful time to get out into nature and experience the “breath of the Earth” that makes Aso so special.
