As seen through anime implies that anime serves as a lens to understand those values.

Hi, I’m Kazu❢❢

Today’s topic is to share a little bit about the secret behind the worldwide popularity of Japanese anime.

Japanese animation is greatly appreciated all over the world. Japanese animation such as “Doraemon” or “One piece” attracts world’s attention. Also in Akihabara, the center of Otaku culture, costume-playing, or making up oneself as one of these anime characters, is popular. This kind of phenomenon is referred as “Cool Japan”.

Among Japanese popular animators, Hayao Miyazaki is internationally acclaimed for “Princess Mononoke” and “Spirited Away”. Gods of deities such as a wild boar or a dragon often appear in these stories, indicating the Japanese traditional polytheistic view of the world forms the foundation of the stories.

Hand-drawn animation requires lots of animators who accurately draw and paint several tens of cels to make just one second length of the film.  Their work is undoubtedly that of skilled craftsmanship. On the other hand, computer animation or CGI animation has been rapidly introduced into this field. This sort of cutting-edge technology is indispensable for making anime now.

Thus the combination of Japanese tradition, craftsmanship and the newest technology are necessary for making a good animation. In that sense, Japan has a suitable environment for making anime. More young foreigners pick up Japanese language and come to feel Japan closer. Anime has a mission as a goodwill ambassador of Japan.
