Beautiful wildflowers and lovely insects, relaxing walk at Higotai park in Ubuyama,Aso

Hello everyone, how are you?

It had been cooler and dryer all the sudden in these days, and it is so nice to spend time outside in Aso.

The other day, I visited “Higotai park” at Ubuyama village with my family. Ubuyama village is located at the northern part of Aso area. It is outside of Aso outer rim, the mountain range of Aso looks just so peaceful and graceful in distance from Ubuyama.

My purpose visiting Higotai park this time was to see these cool looking flowers called “Higotai”.
They bloom in August to September.

You can still find wild Higotai at the grassland in Aso, but they are endangered species. Higotai park is trying to protect and preserve them in natural environment.

Once we stepped into the park, Higotai was blooming everywhere!
I and my daughter got excited and took a lot of pictures 😀

Not only Higotai, but many kinds of wildflowers were blooming, it was fun to see different bugs around them as well. Bees looked very busy to collect honey from each flower.

There were several trails inside of the park, if you like running, you can also use them as a trail running exercise course.

We were not planning to walk a lot with 3-year-old boy, but one trail went along a stream and the difference of the views and vegetation between the grassland and woods along the water was interesting.

Children had fun to walk in nature and we had a longer walk than we expected.

And here is the thing made my day!

Blue bees!

My husband didn’t believe they existed, but we saw them buzzing in real!!

They are also one of the rare species. People say they will bring you happiness!

If you have a chance to visit Aso in this season, you can have a relaxing walk at Higotai park, and enjoy watching lovely wild flowers and insects.

Have a great day.

We are looking forward to seeing you soon in Aso!
