In the wake of the Reiwa 8 (2026) Kumamoto Earthquake, my thoughts are with all those who have lost loved ones, suffered injuries, or seen their homes and communities profoundly affected. I extend my deepest condolences to the families who are grieving, and my heartfelt sympathy to everyone facing hardship during this difficult time. The resilience of the people of Kumamoto and Aso has always been remarkable, yet no community should have to endure such pain alone. I hope that relief efforts, the kindness of neighbors, and support from across Japan and around the world will bring strength and comfort to those who need it most.

Today, I would like to share landscape photos of Aso, a place that has long inspired me with its vast grasslands, volcanic peaks, changing skies, and quiet beauty. Aso is more than a destination; it is a living landscape where nature, history, and everyday life exist in harmony. Even in times of tragedy, its enduring beauty reminds us of the resilience of both the land and the human spirit.

These photos are offered not simply as a piece of art, but as a quiet tribute to the people of Aso and Kumamoto. It is my hope that these peaceful scenes may provide a moment of reflection, remembrance, and hope for recovery. May the mountains stand as symbols of endurance, and may brighter days return to this beloved region as communities rebuild their lives together.
