Hi, there❢ I’m Kazu!!
.
Today, I lightly blogged about Japanese culture based on rice, and since we also carry these products here in Michi No Eki Aso, I took some photos below👇👇

Japanese society has been formed around rice cultivation. Rice is said to yield much more from the same ground than other grains do. Although Japan is a mountainous country and there are not many plains, thanks to Japan’s mild temperature and high rainfall which are quite suitable for rice cultivation, a large population has survived.
Rice is nutritious food and besides eaten as it is, it can be used for rice crackers, used as an ingredient for miso, soybean paste, or rice vinegar, and also for brewing sake, rice wine. On the other hand, rice straw is used for making various things such as straw raincoats or straw footwear. Rice has supported food, clothing, and shelter in Japan.
Rice transplanting and harvesting have been done by the cooperation of people in the same community all at once. Shrine rites and rituals often represent wish for good rice harvest and also thankfulness for good rice harvest. Thus through rice cultivation, Japanese people’s characteristics such as mutual cooperation or group order have developed.
Rice is, for Japanese, the most significant food and at the same time, has formed the foundation of Japanese culture.
Well then, everyone — now that the Golden Week rush of Japanese tourists has ended, why not come and enjoy Aso as it is now, before the damp and muggy rainy season begins around mid‑June?
